Reports To: Program Specialist/Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / PRN
Location: Client’s Home and Community Settings
Shifts: Day, Evening, Weekend, Awake Overnight
Summary
Avana is a subsidiary of Childway Pediatric Services. At Avana, the DSP provides person-centered In-Home and Community Support to adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. Services promote autonomy, skill-building, and community integration per the individual’s plan.
Key Responsibilities
● Support Activities of Daily Living (hygiene, meals, light housekeeping)
● Promote health/wellness, monitor safety, respond to emergencies
● Implement behavior support/crisis intervention plans
● Facilitate community involvement and transportation use
● Encourage self-advocacy, decision-making, communication
● Assist with budgeting, home setup, and parenting support (if applicable)
● Provide overnight safety support as needed
Qualifications
● High School Diploma or GED; age 18+
● Background clearances (Criminal, Child Abuse, FBI)
● Valid driver’s license if transporting clients
Preferred:
● CNA/DSP certification, 1+ year experience with IDD/autism
● CPR/First Aid, trauma-informed care, behavior support training
